Are you runnung the vmware tools? Are they set in the guest to sync time with the host?
tools.syncTime = "TRUE"
VMware tools installed and running:
527 root 1 96 0 1352K 888K select 0:00 0.00% vmware-guestd
Is there something I might have missed?
I should mention that the VMware Tools do seem to help. The VM seems to get perhaps 80 to 90 seconds behind real time, and then it jumps to perhaps 15 seconds behind real time, before starting to slide farther and farther behind.
If you disable APIC (SMP Support, no big deal as long as you aren't running it as a virtual SMP machine) this problem goes away. There is something weird in the APIC code that freaks it out.
To disable APIC you need to add "hint.apic.0.disabled=1" (no quotes) to the bottom of /boot/loader.conf and restart. This should fix the system clock issue.
