nic driver install

we use nic ixgben 1.7.1.16 driver on esxi 6.7 u3 host but vmware says we must use ixgbe version 4.4.1 driver.  How do I install this new driver, do I need to delete the old driver. how should the steps be

Hi,

Make sure the vib is on local storage , so if the host reboots, you're still able to access the vib.

But also make sure you've access to the remote console as backup plan.  So in anycase you're unable to access the local storage anymore

you can make an iso of the vib and still be able to install using the remote console.

Host in maintenance , remove old vib, host probably needs a reboot, and install the new vib.

If i remember right in the readme of the drivers is the installation described.

Use the zip of the driver bundle, upload the zip to a datasore and enter the following command:

esxcli software vib install -d /vmfs/volumes/datastore/driver.zip

This takes a while, removes the old version and installes the new version. The result is written when the command finishes. There is listed what modules was removed and installed and if a reboot is required...
