how to connect the virtual net interface via bridge to a dedicated network interface on the host machine?

Hi!

I thought of giving vmware a try and am already stuck.... sorry.

I want to configure a vm that uses a dedicated usb ethernet connector as it's bridged interface to the network.

It should be the only interface to the net.

I tried to find a way to choose the ethernet interface of the host machine to link it hard with my virtual one.

I am running debian as host and want to create a vm that pxe boots and installs windows on the vm over the network.

Basically the boot server should be able to see the MAC of the ethernet adaptor that is hard linked to the powerd up vm.
So my question is: is it even possible.

If the straight answer is no, then please just let me know and I'm gone.

Thank you in advance for bothering.

cheers,
Christian

I think you need to use the Virtual Network Editor to do that, as you have Workstation Player and not Workstation Pro look for vmnetcfg.exe on your system.

Once you have it running you should refer to: Using the Virtual Network Editor
