Duplicate assets in vCenter licensing

Hi,

We had a vCenter fail that was in ELM with a second VC, it was a very small environment so we just decomed the problematic VC and rebuilt it from scratch. Everything else is working fine but there are now duplicate objects in the licensing section that are not visible in the rest of the VC interface.

Reality:

What licensing shows:

Basically we need to find a way to update the licensing database/tables to recognise that 'host 1' is actually the same object as 'host 1', 'VC2 is the same as 'VC2' and merge the into a single entity or allow us to delete the duplicted objects.

Have you tried to remove the ESXi from inventory and join it again? Also have you tried to change to Evaluation and then again to the license to see if it updates?

Hi,

Removing a host removes the 'new' host asset from licensing, however the 'old' host asset remains and doesn't disappear. Additioanlly, even if this action worked, it wouldn't be something we could do with the vCenter object, we can't easily remove and re-add that.

We went through a similar process but it was much more straightforward to identify and delete the assets using 'JXplorer' (local > vsphere > Services > LicenseService) seemed to work fine and everything is correctly licensed now.
