Windows could not start the VMware VirtualCenter Sever Service on local computer Error 1068

Hello,

I am running windows vcenter(6.0) on vmware workstation with local database (Vspostgres SQL) and getting below message.

Error Message : windows could not start vmware VirtualCenter Server Service local computer..depend service or group failed to start :1068 error

Below steps i have performed to troubleshoot the issue.

1. I checked vpxd.log file and found failed to connect vpostgres sql database ..

2. In windows services i am unable to start vmware vpostgres showing depend services failed.

3. I went  to ODBC connection in system DNS and can see local server is refused the connection on port 5432.

4 . Even i tried to open port 5432 in windows firewall inbound rules but still port 5432 is not able to telnet and target machine is actively refusing it.

5. I am not able to see port 5432 is in listening mode ...in netstat -an

Here i am attaching error snap and vpxd.log file ....Any assistance or suggestion would be much appreciated.

Hello satishsalunkhe,

If the vPostrgres service is failing to start then you should see the logs of that service first instead of the vpxd. What do the logs you show once you try to start it?
