terminal tabs change to black

I made a macOS VM in Fusion and when I open a Terminal window that has tabs, the tabs "look funky" where they are blacked out or lines streak across them making it hard to see the tab names.  What is the fix for that?  I tried changing the colors in the terminal settings to no avail so it seems to be a video setting somewhere.

It's probably an artifact caused by the lack of 3d acceleration in the MacOS guest.  There's rumblings that initial support may come sometime after Big Sur /Fusion 12 is out, but timing is unclear.
