Assigning an Unused VM to an Active Directory User

We are trying to get an HP Simplivity Server up and running and are getting stuck on the piece of once the VMs have been created how to have active directory users login to those VMs. We had previously used Remote Desktop Server (RDS) with Hyper V to create our virtual machines but are now using VMware. With RDS it would create a pool of VMs, a user would then login to the web interface using their active directory credentials and then RDS would assign an unused VM to that user once they selected the collection.

Is it possible to set up something similar to that process with VMware, or is there a better route to go about this without having to use Horizons? Our end goal is to have 3 different virtual machines and the users pick or be automatically assigned to a virtual machine when logging in with their Active Directory credentials.

Saying you are “using VMware” is like saying you are ”using Microsoft” when talking about a Surface Pro, Word, Teams, Hyper-V, or an Xbox - which VMware product did you mean?

On the assumption it is vSphere, there is nothing built-in that does what you describe - it would indeed be Horizon that offers this.

Would you like me to move this thread to the Horizon area? (I happen to be a forum moderator)
