Can't run in Unity mode in KDE (Kubuntu)

I'm running an up-to-date Kubuntu 20.01 guest in a Windows 10 host.

Unity mode is unavailable. What's the trick to making this work?

Thanks!

Unity mode for Linux hosts and guests was removed from Workstation 12 onwards, back in 2015.

VMware Workstation 12 Pro Release Notes

It is still supported for Windows hosts and guests.

What version of Workstation/Player?

Unity did get removed for Linux guests, I believe.  Can't remember which version.

I'm running 15.5.6.

Why would vmware remove the feature but keep the icon in the toolbar?

It is still present for Windows guests.

If I am incorrect, the other possibility is that the VMware Tools are not installed.
