Air-Watch Installation

Hi,

I am looking for an MDM solution and signed up for Airwatch trail. However, I do not see any documentation on how to install the product. I also do not see anything related to the air-watch portal. How does one begin to trail this product?

I tried calling Sales and Support and the phone gets disconnected.

I am lost,

Hi,

Which version have you downloaded?

All documents are listed under Workspace ONE UEM Installation.

Here's an example for version 1909 - https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-Workspace-ONE-UEM/1909/WS1_Installation.pdf

The documentation shows how to build an On-Prem servers. I am looking for a cloud solution to deploy air-watch on laptops and phones to track theft and wipe the devices.

The link I provided has details of both on-premises and SaaS deployment.

Here's the specific link for Wipe protection configuration : Wipe Protection

Which version are you looking for?

The link mentions SAAS in the title but does not address SAAS.

This is what I am trying to achieve.

  • I have 50 clients.
  • All clients are using O365. They are not joined to any domains. The machines are plain workgroups. I do not have any domains or DC's.
  • I need to enroll all the devices based on domain (or some other method). My clients are spread across the states so I need an easy method to enroll them.
  • I need to track devices, lock devices and remote wipe.

  • The devices are iPhones and HP laptops.

Is VMware One the right product for this?

I see ways to join with ONE domain, but nothing if I have multiple email domains.

Hi there,

VMware Workspace ONE is the right solution for your mobile fleet across the states, and you are on the right track going with SaaS instead of on-premises. In fact, I would only consider on-premises if total control is an absolute must.

What sector are you in? I can help connect you with the right account manager at VMware to get you started with your trial.

I'm not familiar with the laptops just yet, but your iPhones can certainly enroll without any domain on-premises or in the cloud (would be easier if you do). There are three ways to enroll your iPhones: email address, server URL, and QR code. I actually favor QR code as it provides the best user experience when it comes to the device enrollment. Once they are enrolled, you can execute various commands such as device wipe, lock devices, etc.

Best,

Tom

I am in healthcare.

I tried calling sales last week, but the call kept on disconnecting.

We are looking for an all in one solution that can protect iPhones, iPads, and laptops.

FYI on the below.

Hi Tom,

The easiest way for him to set up the trial is to fill out the request from the link below:

https://www.vmware.com/workspace-one/free-trial.html

Note the box “I have read and accept” needs to be selected as well.

Hope this helps.

I already have a free trial, and have questions regarding how to use this product. I cannot get hold of any VM Support. I do not know if what I need, like managing laptops, is something air-watch can do.

Yup.  Been there and done that. It seems I go down the rabbit hole of documentation, I am looking for the sales team who can guide me to what I need and what I don't.
