Hello,
I'm using "VMware vSphere Hypervisor 7.0" (latest build) on an HP DL360p G8.
Installation works fine, but the hypervisor freezes every 20 seconds for about 2/3 seconds. The guest OS's are freezing, even when working in the console, it freezes...
Any input I execute while the freeze is happening is still registered.
It's a really annoying issue, not workable.
ps: I already tried with all vSphere 7 versions, updated bios, and firmware... nothing helps.
Don't see strange things in load on CPU, Memory or Network.
Any advice?
Thanks
Hey everyone,
The issue has been fixed.
To be honest, there was no issue on the server or hypervisor.
Apparently the issue was due to my wireless devices.
RDP and Remote management connections were stalled due to a bug in my Wifi6 Mesh system.
Connecting with the same device wired worked perfectly.
Happy that it was as easy as that, unhappy with the time I lost with this.
Thanks for everyone with the tips.
Seems as though ESXi 6.5 was the last version supported on a DL360 Gen8 - only DL360 Gen9 and Gen10 appear in the results for 6.7 or 7.0.
VMware Compatibility Guide - System Search
or
VMware from HPE Certification and Support | Hewlett Packard Enterprise
Indeed, also found that.
I did receive a warning saying that CPU will not be supported in future releases, but only the warning.
Problem is that I can't download 6.5 or 6.7 anymore (registration link not working anymore)!
6.7 wouldn't be supported either, as above.
Paying customers can still download 6.5, so I guess you either need to buy a license (such as the vSphere Essentials Kit) or buy new hardware.
Hello,
Status update:
Just tried version 6.5U2 and I have the same issue.
I really don't understand what the issue is caused by!
Anyone experience with this?
Thanks.
Do you see any related entries in the host's log files?
You may press Alt-F12 on the host's console to view the vmkernel.log.
Just to rule that out. If you have a CD/DVD in the host's drive, please eject it.
André
Hey André,
Nothing specific in the log, only from system startup, after that, nothing.
Host doesn't have a CD/DVD device.
Also checked the other logs, nothing that comes back every 20 seconds.
Status update:
Same problem with HPE version 6.5U3 (preGen9) version.
Tried on an identical server with other RAID config, same issue.
So it had to be something on the hardware side... BIOS config?
Server uses this storage controller: Smart Array P420i
Also tried with several firmware versions of this controller.
Any other tests I can perform?
Thx
