VUM with custom vendor images

Hi,

Are the predefined Critical Host Patches and vSAN Cluster baselines applicable when using custom vendor ESXi images?

(They show as non compliant but are these really meant to work/tested with vendor custom ESXi?)

If not how should one check for updates when using custom vendor ESXi images and can these checks/downloads be integrated in VUM?

Dell/HP are typical examples where custom images are used so not sure if VUM is still applicable to patch such vendor ESXi images.

Thanks

For instance in Security Health Checks (Beta) I get a critical recommendation to apply Patch VMware ESXi 6.7, Patch Release ESXi670-202004002

How should I proceed if the ESXi is a Custom vendor install?

Thanks

Hello andvm,

Yes they are applicable. I recommend you to always go to the newly version of ESXi using the Custom ISO and after doing that proceed with the installation of the patches.

Regards!

Ok good to know as was not sure If the VUM critical updates such as the Rollup where applicable.

Vendor images tend to take a while (months), before a new custom image is available
