I've configured syslog on nsx-edge, but the logs are being forwarded from the vcenter to the syslog server and not from the edge. Is this an expected behaviour of nsx-edge ? Is there a wau to forward logs from the edge?

Yes, I have configured syslog as mentioned in the document . im able to find edge logs as well .

but the logs appear with hostname as the vcenter and not edge hostname .

Configuring IP alone is not enough, there should be a connectivity as well for the log forwarding to work. Are you sure that we have the connectivity ?

Yes there is a connectivity between the edge and syslog server.

Can anyone provide sample nsx edge logs ?
