How to safely stop a Copy datastore file task

Hi!

Due to error I've started a copy datastore file task on the same datastore on my ESXi 6.5.0 server.

The task is very slow and I can't restart the VM related to the copy in progress.

May I safely  stop the copy task and restart the VM?

And if yes, how?

Any idea?

Thanks in advance

Hi, You need to restart the VM client daemon service on esxi host to stop the progress.

Take SSH and run the following command
/etc/init.d/hostd restart

Hi Nawals .

Thanks for your reply.

I've solved waiting the end of the backup.

Thanks

There are backup tools which will do the equivalent of that for you automatically while the VM is running.

Veeam is a popular option: Veeam Editions Comparison

But then you should know that from a previous thread of yours: Can't download entire folder from ESXi 6.5 datastore
