Uninstaller deletes both new file as well as the backup file and so breaks the isntallation

Dear all,

we are using BitRock for installers of translations. The installer makes a backup file from the original file and the copy the new, translated, one. And it works fine.

The problem is with uninstaller which deletes the new one as well as the backup file without unpacking the backup file and so it breaks the installation.

See the video with full workflow: ftp://ftp.arcdata.cz/outgoing/holubec/uninstaller.mp4

Installation of translation works fine. The uninstallation is an issue. In the video you can se 3 attempts.

1) Click YES to uninstall right away, when the window appears – it makes, the issue, when the uninstaller removes all CS files and breaks the installation. You can see here that the uninstaller runs automatically twice – hard to say why.
2) When don´t click to the first appearing to uninstall confirmation dialog, it disappears after few seconds, and then appears again. When it´s confirmed on its second appear, the uninstaller works fine
3) When AVG is disabled, the uninstaller runs only once, and works fine.

I tried to add uninstaller.exe as well as all NLS folder to AVG exception list, but it did not help. Have you seen such behavior? Do you have any idea where the problem could be? For installers we are using BitRock.

Thank you for any idea.

Vladimir

Hi,

It seems the antivirus program is causing the uninstaller to not be executed properly, giving it a false positive. Can you upload the uninstaller to Virustotal and check for any issues?

Dear Michael,

I or u00B4ve tested the installation file with VirusTotal and I get 0 detection from 72. So from there it seems fine.

Hi Vladimir,

Which uninstaller actions are you running? Could you share the snippets with us for the relevant actions?
