Disconnected ESXi and unable to access its management

Hi,

ESXi got disconnected from vCenter

When trying to access the ESXi directly (URL - GUI) the login page appears but then it times out when trying to login.

SSH is either disabled or also not responding.

Server health looks green from iDRAC

What are the recommended steps:

  • To try to get the server back in a connected/fully responsive state and

  • To ensure VMs are or remain running (currently disconnected from vCenter view)

I am thinking this might require VM's to be shutdown manually, then re-register them via vmx file to another host? (Not sure if this would work since they would already be registered to the disconnected host)

Thanks

You can login to console and check the live Logs .

ALT+ F11 and ALT + F12

Which will give information if there are any on going storage issue and if the hostd is unresponsive .

If the Hostd is unresponsive then Rebooting the host is the only option .

If there are Vm's registered then HA would restart the vms on the working host .

If all Datastore accesable?

If so please try a

services.sh restart

this worked by restarting the hostd service only, host evacuated as now I need to find out why it happened.

Looks like it is not recommended to restart the management services when running vSAN with LACP and since this was the case I played safe.

Thanks
