vCenter Console Access permissions donot work via VMware Workstation

The vCenter Console Access permissions on vm's works fine and the user's are able to view the Console of the vm from vCenter, but when they connect to the vCenter via VMware Workstation they are unable to view the Console of the vm's where they have the Console Access permissions. So now what kind of permissions are required to view the vm Console via VMware  Workstation ?

Hi Shaavina. Are you sure that is not a permission problem? How are you linking Workstation with vCenter?

Another thing worth checking is the port 902 between workstation and vCenter. You may use telnet for that one.

I found this KB VMware Knowledge Base​. Maybe that will do it.

Can you upload some screenshots of the problem?

What workstation logs tell you?

Windows: C:\ProgramData\VMware\hostd\hostd-n.log

Linux: /var/log/vmware/hostd-n.log

Also, the VM logs in vSphere can provide useful information. You can find them in the folder with the same name that the VM in the datastore.

Hi Lucasbernadsky,

No this is not a permission problem, as these users are able to view the vm Console from the vCenter Web client. VMware workstation has the ability to connect to vCenter, and you can do some vm management tasks.

I connected to the vCenter via VMware workstation using admin level privileges and was able to view the Console of the vm's, so looks like the vCenter Console level permissions do not work when connected via workstation. I need to though verify this from end user's pc, as they are on a different network than the pc from where I connected to VMware workstation.
