I just upgraded to the latest VMWare Workstation pro 15.5.5 build-16285975 using Windows 10 Pro as the host and running Ubuntu Linux 18.04 as the guest. When I fire up the VM, everything seems fine.
When I hit the caps lock key caps lock engages and all seems well, but if I hit the caps lock key a second time it will not disengage. Caps lock is on for the duration of the VM session and there doesn't appear to be any way to turn it off.
Is this a bug with the latest upgrade? Any ideas here?
Thanks,
Dave
Additional info for anyone who cares... The caps lock light doesn't change when I press the caps lock button (not on the first press that turns caps lock on or any subsequent press).
I downgraded to the prior version and everything is back to normal.
Known issue, see here for details: Caps Lock Issues With Upgrade. A workaround would be to disable caps lock in the vm, at least that's what I did.
We're aware of the problem are are looking into it internally.
In the meantime, you might be able to work-around the caps-lock issues by setting the config option:
mks.win32.useInjectedMagic=FALSE
In either your VM's vmx file or your per-user config file.
