Teams backgrounds with View and PCoIP Zero Client

Hi,

i have a Windows 10 VM with 16 GB, 4 vCPU of a Xeon Silver 4110 CPU and via vDGA a Nvidia Tesla P4 GPU.

I'm using a Fujitsu Futro L620 PCoIP Zero Client, which has a Tera 2140 with 2 monitors at 2560x1600.

The Horizon View Agent is the latest and i have USB Passthrough enabled.

At the Zero Client i have a Microsoft LifeCam HD-3000 USB cam connected, this Webcam works without problems. I see the camera directly as a USB device and the driver for this is installed in the VM.

For using the speaker and microphone connectors of the Zero Client i have installed the Teradici audio drivers, this is working without problems too.

The only problem i have: I'm not able to activate my own backgrounds in Teams. I can only use background blur.

Is it possible that Teams disable that feature because i'm in a VDI session?

Or where can be the problem?

Is there something else i can optimize?

Kind regards

Stefan

Hi,

I've noticed this to on our VDI's. Not using ZeroClient, but Horizon Client with blast protocol.

When I use Teams locally on my computer, I have the option to change backgrounds, but on the VDI, only blur is available. I first thought it was a version mismatch, but same versions seem to be installed. Only difference is that on the VDI the x64 version is installed, as on my local computer, the 32-bit version is installed. Maybe the feature has not been rolled out in the x64 version? Haven't had the time to test it any further yet however as this is not a high priority for now, but curious if anyone may have already come up with a solution.

Regards, Michiel.

Hi Mickeybyte2, Raudi

These calling and meeting features are not yet supported with Teams on VDI:

  • Enhanced emergency services
  • HID buttons and LED controls between the Teams app and devices
  • Background blur and effects
  • Broadcast/live events
  • Location-Based Routing (LBR)
  • Call park
  • Call queue

But the "background blur" is working here.

I can understand that when i use RTAV feature and use a clients camera that this is more problematic, but i'm using a camera via USB passthrough and i have a GPU.

One thing i noticed, perhaps the USB is to slow, i noticed in the Windows Camera App, that i can use only 0,02mp (160x120) not very much...

On the Microsoft pages i found only things regarding Citrix and redirecting audio/video. And when searching i found only infos regarding Teams and Real-Time Audio-Video with a View client, this is the same...

https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-Horizon-7/7.10/horizon-remote-desktop-features/GUID-E64B3E85-BA1E-...

I don't need or better can't use Real-Time Audio-Video. I have a PCoIP Zero Client.
