ESXi 6.7.0 - VNIC / Physical Down/Down

Hi Guys,

I have a UCS server running ESXi 6.7.0. For whatever reason, my VMNIC2-5 will not physically come up. I have tried to SSH'n in to the box and shutting them down and restarting, but they remain down. I am currently plugged in to VNIC 2, from there in to my 9300 - as you can see, the port is down/down.

Is there anything else I can try?

Thanks.

Are there any differences between the configuration of the physical switch ports that the NIC ports are cabled into?

Hi Scott,

No, both 1G, so both auto/autp.

Cheers

you can force link up with : esxcli network nic up -n vmnic1

also have a look at the vmkernel.log - there you can find the reason for not coming up

ok there is nothing usable in the log that could help.

maybe a driver/firmware-problem.

a few questions:

- what exact hardware is it ?

- which esxi-image did you use (vmware or customized)?

- which esxi version is it (buildnumber)

- is it a fresh install or upgraded from an older version ?

- did vmnic2-5 have ever worked ?

- do you see an uplink on the correspondend switchport?
