expand VMFS

We want to expand out datastore on to seperate physical disk....  Knowing you cannot have two Datastores and expand free space of one on another, i deleted the 2nd data store, and "add extend" which then space n second hard drive showed up

So, ESXI now shows expanded capacity, s i must be on the right track.. Now, the eproblem is how do i expand partition in Windows.. to recognize the extra space? As hard driev capacity is windows is still showing old size

.

Windows : 8Gig.

Expanded Datastore: 22Gig (previously around 10)

Two more procedures to follow, in this order:

1. Increase the size of the virtual disk: Change the Virtual Disk Configuration

2. Increase the size of the Windows partition (exact process will depend on the Windows version and disk type)

Did you expand the existing VMFS by adding an extent ?

I highly recommend NOT to use extents. Especially not with ESXi 6 or later !!!

If possible work around using extents - if you lose one extent the chance that you risk the data on both extents is very high.

Login in Window VM >>> Open Disk Mgmt >>> Select the Disk which you extended >>>Right Click on that disk and expand it.
