vSphare_Replication machine storage got destroyey

Dear

I was using replication tool but the data store where it was stored and running get crashed, how can I use the snaps of replicated machines with snaps which was created by replication tool as I can not add the snaps to the same complete .vmdk file which was created by replication tool, also its complete .vmdk file is running properly but unable to attached the created snaps. Can someone resolve my issue

so you have a few options...

1 install a new replication appliance and recreate the replication jobs "using seeds", if you haven't changed the base data it will pick up the seeds and fix itself

2 if you have powered on the VM using the flat disks and not the point in time snapshots, then you have broken the point in time snapshot chain.

3 if you have not powered on connected directly to the base VMDK then you can build the snapshot chain manually, by reading all the vdmk descriptors and putting each vm back together... this is very time consuming.

Kind regards,

Fouad

Actually in destroyed storage my other VMs which was replicating also destroyed so I recreate vm by using main .vmdk file

In this case the data in the snapshot files is probably now not recoverable; data recovery services like "on track" may be able to force mount a corrupt snapshot chain, but as you are using the main .vmdk file it is changing from it's original site making recovery more difficult.

Sorry for the bad news.

Fouad

Dear Fouad,

I have a clone with different name so i again created clone with same name as it was earlier as you said select seed should i select the main .vmdk file (which is in GBs) in seeds or select latest snap file (which is in MBs)

given the current situation, select the main.vmdk, replication should figure out the rest Smiley Happy

Dear Fouad,

I have created replication by selecting the main, vmdk file and recover it but still old snapshots not listed however  it created another folder in datastore having name "vm-snapshot1.vms till 14.vmsn" as I have selected keep 2 snap for one day, also .vmsd and .vmx file all are in KB. After recovering as my seed file selected was "hbrdisk.RDID-1366cf60-7e34-40df-a870-75aaef2f03a7.40335.109009050741133-000001.vmdk" which is still same but when i see in edit setting the .vmdk file name is "hbrdisk.RDID-1366cf60-7e34-40df-a870-75aaef2f03a7.40335.109009050741133-000002.vmdk" however both are in same folder I did not start the VM after Apply recover waiting for your help please guide as old snapshot's .vmdk file is also there but not showing in recovered VM.
