I have ESXi 5.5 HPE installed on my ProLiant ML350 G6 server and I want to use the web client to manage it. I have downloaded the vSphere 5.5 package and tried to install the vCenter Single Sign-On as a prerequisite to the vSphere Web Client but it fails. According to the log file it is failing while trying to install TCServer version 5.5. Any help to get the web client working would be great. Thanks.
Which exact ESXi build number do you run?
Later 5.5 versions come with an embedded web client, i.e. no need to use vCenter Server etc.
Try https://esxi-ip-or-name/ui/ to see what happens.

Hi,
The web client is only available if you also have a vCenter server -- there's no web client for ESXi 5.5

You are running HP Customized Image ESXi 5.5.0 Update 3 version 550.9.4.26 released on November 2015 and based on ESXi 5.5.0 Update 3 Vmkernel Release Build 3116895.
The first build that included the Embedded Host Client was 4179633, so the built number you have is too old.
Note that vCenter Server is not a free product, and also requires paid licenses for the ESXi host, just in case you are considering it. The least expensive option would be an Essentials Kit.

Wow... Good to know. How much does the Essentials Kit cost?
Please take a look at e.g. VMware Online Store for options,a and pricing for the region where you live.

Be also aware that 5.5 is not a supported version anymore and also that your G6 server probably isn't supported on the current versions of ESX. http://vmware.com/go/hcl
