Workstation (15.5) issues - scaling, and Desktop switching speed - for vCenter running VMs.

I use Workstation 15.5 to connect to vCenter hosting Desktop VMs, and text based consoles. Some of the Desktops have VMTools installed, some don't (old OSes).

The computer that runs Workstation is a Windows 10 Pro installation connected to a 4K monitor with 200% zoom set up in Display Settings.

I have couple of issues:

1. While most of the Workstation interface respects the display zoom (200% at 4K), the remote Desktops are displayed pixel-for-pixel. This is a severe problem for text based consoles as they are very low resolution and the text appears tiny. There used to be a couple of settings in Workstation to "scale" lower resolution consoles but it is not there anymore. There are a bunch of complaints about that online. I am trying to fiddle with settings in C:\Users\[UserName]\AppData\Roaming\VMware\preferences.ini to get it to work. (I did it one time, when the stars aligned, but am not able to replicate it). What settings should I put in that file as well as in Edit->Preferences to make this work?

2. When I connect to several Desktops, switching between their tabs is not instantaneous. I guess each time a tab is brought forth, the video protocol is restarted. It is faster than my KVM switch but still annoying. When I put each "tab" in full screen on a separate virtual desktop and hotkey-switch between them, it is instantaneous (after disabling "Animate windows when minimizing and maximizing"). However, once a VM grabs the keyboard input, to switch first I have to press-and-release Ctrl-Alt to ungrab, then the hotkey to switch virtual desktops, then Ctrl-G to grab into the new VM. This can be automated with a programmable keyboard but is there a simpler way to do it? Maybe Workstation can be setup to NOT pass certain hotkeys to the VM, but instead route them to the host. I searched for an Autohotkey solution but there appears to be none - apparently only the mouse wheel is not fully grabbed.

Thanks for your help!
