VRA Server Build Request does not go forward with the following message : The referenced object can not be found or is not valid. Contact your system administrator.

Hello All,

I am getting into an issue with a VMware VRA catalog task, this is a blueprint for a server build in VCenter.

Environment:

VRA Version: VMware VRA 7.4.0

Endpoint: VMware VCenter

Blueprint: This is an IaaS blueprint, the blueprint calls a few workflows and actions from VRO

VRA build request doesn't go to the submitted stage with error message The referenced object can not be found or is not valid. Contact your system administrator.""

I was unable to determine which field is causing that error, the same blueprint is used for multiple sites(multiple vm templates). This is the only site that fails.

I was unable to determine which log to look at.

Couple of logs I looked at so far:

1. Repository Log

2. Logs in VRA it self

Could not tell which log to look at for error messages, since the build has not been initiated.test.png

Thanks in advance.

Regards

Prad

If you need to identify the specific element, you may need to tail server.log on the vRO side and see what's being invoked.

Going to need a lot more information than this. Please read the first article in my signature.

Thank You, I have added a screen shot to the post. I can post a log provided I know which log to look at in this case.

I have looked at the below locations:

1. Repository Log

2. Logs in VRA itself

Couldn't find anything in those, I am assuming that is because the request never went in.

Missing the basics:  What version of vRA is this? Is this an XaaS request? You're jumping way ahead here...

Look at the event logs under Administration and see what else it has to say. There's probably some object in vRO which you're referencing and is invalid.

Looked at the event logs under administration but don't see anything in there. I tried a build just now to make sure, the last entry was 15 minutes ago.

My thought was: since the build did not even go through it wouldn't log anything.
