Password for importing the ".vmdk" file

Is it possible to have a security password for my ".vmdk" file?

The idea is that only I can import the Workstation.

In other words, if a person takes my file, they won't be able to open it ...

Any idea?

I did it, but that way he asks for a password to start. I would like the password to be requested only if someone copies my virtual hd to import into another VM ...

Does anyone have any ideas? even if you need to use a program outside of vmware?

The person will have access to the server to start the machine, so I need only anti-copy security, if I have to provide the password for the person to turn on the machine, it won't do ...

Hi,

As Scott says, currently the only option is encryption and restriction.

Note that those are two different options with 2 different passwords.

After you encrypt the VM you can restrict it by adding another password.

That second password however does not protect you against copying (just tested it here), so there is nothing out of the box that you can use for this scenario.

You might be better off with using VMware vSphere where access to a VM does not equal access to the file system.
