Connecting "Delock External Enclosure for M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD with SuperSpeed USB 10 Gbps (USB 3.1 Gen 2) USB Type-C" to VMware FUSION

Hi,

I am trying to connect a

Delock External Enclosure for M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD with SuperSpeed USB 10 Gbps (USB 3.1 Gen 2) USB Type-C

Delock Products 42600 Delock External Enclosure for M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD with SuperSpeed USB 10 Gbps (U...

to a VMware Host running Ubuntu Linux.

So far I tried an Ubuntu install I have and then ubuntu-18.04.3-desktop-amd64.iso Live system after running:

     apt-get update

     apt install open-vm-tools

It runs a kernel 5 so it suits the kernel version requirements of the vendor Delock.

My questions:

1. Is it possible to make this work?

2. Or won't this work as it is a USB 3.1 Gen-2 device?

3. When will VMware Fusion support USB 3.1 Gen-2 devices ?

Thanks a lot in advance for any feedback / hint on this!

I believe they only support Gen-1 at the moment.  They don't comment on future capabilities, but I'd look to the tech preview for any signs that things might change.
