Is it possible to mount an operating system ISO to a VLP VM , boot from the ISO and install the o/s?

Within vCloud Director, am able to "insert CD/DVD from Catalog.." (mount an ISO), power on the virtual machine and install the respective operating system.

Can this be done within the VLP user interface?

Thanks for reading,

John

Hi John,

I don‘t think so but I could be wrong. If its not possible, I’m thinking if you create a template in VCD and configure ISO file to mount (in vSphere) when it boots this would work, but it would also keep booting to the ISO on reboot which you probably don’t want. On that note, you could configure VM BIOS boot sequence to prompt what to boot to and bypass that on second boot. Also not sure if thats possible, just trying to help.

Cheers,

Peter

Hi John,

you can mount ISO in an unpublished vApp Template from a Lab Builder UI, while building a vApp from scratch or a cloned vApp Template. There are two use cases when you can mount an ISO.

1. when you build a Template from scratch , install OS and configure the OS.

2. when user wants to install or Upgrade the existing vAp template .
