2 popup dialog boxes before starting my VM on Catalina

Hi All,

Am running VMWare Version 11.1.1 (14328561) and am starting a Windows 10 VM. Am in the latest version of the Developer Beta of Catalina (10.15 Beta (19A526h)).

When I start my VM, I get two pop up dialog boxes. 1st says "com.vmware.VMMonHelper" is an app downloaded from the Internet. Are you sure you want to open it?" and the 2nd says "com.vmware.KextControlHelper" is an app downloaded from the Internet. Are you sure you want to open it?"

If I click Open on each dialog, my VM opens fine. I'd just like to get those pop up dialog boxes to go away. I know that apps need to be approved in the Control Panel / Security & Privacy area, but those two apps don't show up for me there...

What do I need to do?

Thanks in advance!

- Jon

This seems to have fixed it for me:

sudo xattr -rd com.apple.quarantine /Applications/VMware\ Fusion.app/Contents/Library/LaunchServices/*Helper

Shouldn't be required for 11.5.

I can confirm that this is still required.

Then something's wrong with the install - it's definitely not required.

Thanks. I can confirm two things.

1. This is still required for Fusion 12 on macOS 10.15.6 and that your suggestion for quarantining resolves the problem of this notification.

2. dlhotka is wrong and [removed by moderator].

I got the same problem today. I reinstalled Fusion manually even without uninstalling, and it works. Running on macOS 10.15.7, VMware Fusion 12.1.0.

In addition, I initially installed fusion via Homebrew cask. I don't know if the problem is related to it.

The following link downloads Fusion:

Hope this helps.

Yes, that's the issue.  Short answer: don't do that.  Install it via the installer.
