Hi,
I designed an infrastructure with 4 nodes and I want to install vSAN on it.
From what I hear, i need this software or licenses:
Now, assuming I want to use tvSan Advanced 6.7, which versions of Vphere and vCenter should I buy?
Thank You and Best Regards
Gaetano
Hi,
VSpere licenses do not go per node but per processor
VSAN:
License Requirements
Verify that you have a valid license for vSAN.
Using vSAN in production environments requires a special license that you assign to the vSAN clusters.
You can assign a standard vSAN license to the cluster, or a license that covers advanced functions.
Advanced features include RAID 5/6 erasure coding, and deduplication and compression. An enterprise
license is required for encryption and stretched clusters. For information about assigning licenses, see
Configure License Settings for a vSAN Cluster.
The capacity of the license must cover the total number of CPUs in the cluster.
Considerations about the vSAN License
Virtualization The Future: VMware vSAN 6.6 License Editions
vCenter:
vCenter with a license you can hook multiple ESXi in the same network environment.

Thank for the feedback.
You are right. By mistake I wrote node, but I have four single-processor nodes, each 24 cores.
Best regards

Hello Iwawa,
"which versions of Vphere and vCenter should I buy?"
vSAN doesn't require any specific license level of vSphere so pick whichever one has the features you require (e.g. NIOC, SIOC, SDRS, Auto Deploy, VM Encryption):
As an aside, vSAN comes with free vDS support regardless of the vSphere licensing edition in use.
