Trying to passthrough a SCSI to USB adapter to Linux Ubuntu 16.04, but Fusion 11.5 is not recognizing it

I have an old tape drive I would like to control via Linux Ubuntu 16.04's mt command through VMware Fusion. Essentially, I have:

SCSI Tape Drive --> SCSI to USB adapter --> Mac OS Catalina USB 3.0 port --> (hopefully) Fusion 11.5

The drive is recognized and works if I boot my Mac into Linux by way of a flash drive. Also, my Mac OS recognizes it if I connect the adapter through the lsusb function. HOWEVER, the normal pop-up (asking if I want it to go to Mac or Fusion) I get when I put in a new usb device doesn't pop up when I put the adapter with the USB in.

Does anyone have any ideas what I can do? Thanks!

Hi ,

Have you tried with the following setup:

Fusion 11.5 (The VM is running)-->SCSI to USB adapter --> Mac OS Catalina USB 3.0 port --> SCSI Tape Drive

Also, is the device listed in Virtual Machine-->Settings-->USB & Bluetooth ?

Regards,

-Rick
