So, first, while not directly something I'd use, the direct container virtualization is *very* cool.  Nice work!

Other than the USB updates (would love to hear more about the details), are there non Nautilus features we should poke at?

Hi,

I have installed this and started playing with the container services and am blocked at step 1:

vctl system start

I receive the following error:

Preparing storage...

2020/01/27 17:28:53 mount failed:  exit status 1

failed to start container runtime: exit status 1

Any suggestions?

This is on MacOS 10.14.6

If there is better places to post this, please let me know.

Thanks,

David

Hi David,

Could you please check whether nautilus is already mounted on your system? You may need to take a look at the sidebar in Finder.

If it is already mounted, please eject the disk image first then try vctl system start again.

If you still meet the same problem, please run "hdiutil mount ~/.nautilus/nautilus.sparseimage -mountpoint ~/.nautilus/storage" in your terminal and post the results here then we can have further investigations.

Thanks,

Xiaodong Ye

Hi dlhoka,

Thank you for trying Fusion Tech Preview 20H1.

Currently with this preview, Project Nautilus(running containers directly with Fusion) and USB KEXT are the two features we want feedbacks.

Container support is the feature we have been working on long time, also this has been a request from many users for long time.

For USB KEXT removal, ideally we don't expect customer feel the existence of this feature, as it's supposed to work as without this feature before. Though actually we did a lot of work in the backend.

As you may have noticed in tech preview blog, this year we are going to have multiple tech preview. Tech preview last week is the first one. Please stayed tuned for future tech preview with more new exciting features.

Cheers,

VMware Fusion Team

VMWARE Team I hope I am not hijacking this post - I tried your TechPreview but it doesn't fix a now 1.5 year old big on V11.xxxxx for Fusion that makes the web cam unusable for Ubuntu - dropping the frame rate down to embarrassingly slow.

How long will this sit open for ... you either have to use V10 ... which I had to move back to ... hoping it get fixed. Is this on a FIX list for GA of this tech preview by chance for a bug fix list?
