What vSphere version is 3v0-624 exam based on?

hi folks, I just did my VCP-DCV 2019 2 months ago and I am currently studying for the VCAP6.5-DCV exam 3v0-624. I am unsure which vSphere version it is based on. Is it just 6.5 GA or any newer version like Update 2 or even Update 3? There are quite some differences in design elements, limits and requirements so it would be good to know, what to look for 😕

In the exam blueprint it is not mentioned.

Our internal team confirmed that the design exam is based on v6.5.0.1, Update 1.

I guess it is based on 6.5U1. But unsure of it.

There is discord study group in case you wish to join and check there. I can send the invite.

Hi,

The exam is mainly based on version 6.5. But considering that the questions are updated, it would be better if you were also prepared on the news introduced by each update version.

I too want to take this exam in a few months.

Whatever the current version was when the exam guide was created or last updated (the document attached to the reply above this one)

Hi and thx for sharing your opinion. But exactly that would be the case. Considering vSphere FT for example. in the 6.5 GA it supported only 4 vCPUs and late ron it supports 8 vCPUs per VM. So if there would be a question regarding this kind of functional product news (and there is also other stuff that has changed, also design of VCSA and PSCS etc) introduced in later updates, how should one know which limits to be used if it is uncertain which version the exam or this special question is tied to 😕

I already had the same issue with my VCP6.5 ... there were also some questions with the same problem I was not able to figure out, which version or update the question is based on 😕

I would start with the latest version and take the date when the Blueprint was updated and match with release date of vSphere. Unless some questions were changed reflecting the version change, i would simply ignore this fact. Going by my experience it really will have zero impact on your passing exam. For official answers you can directly approach certification team. Hope you know the email contact.

Best of luck of the exam

Hm yes would be a possibility Smiley Happy It was updated back on 13th, december 2019. So that would mean 6.5 Update 3.

But just as I mentioned as example from VCP ... the thing with Fault Tolerance and 4 vCPUs ... I wouldnt know what to choose. I know the differences between the versions for myself, but not which version the question is now based on and if all question's answers were updated/ported to 6.5 Update 3.

But I have also already written to the cert support. Maybe they can bring some clarification even for my further exams I need to take ;>
