HP Firmware first or vSphere upgrade first?

Hi,

I need to upgrade our HP Blade stack and I just wanted to confirm is it still best practice to upgrade the chassis OA's first, the ILO's of each blade, then VC,  then the firmware of each blade then finally do the esxi upgrade from 6.0 to 6.5?  (These are BL460c G8 so unfortunately 6.5 is the highest I can go to.)

So order would be :

C7000 OA

Blade ILOs

Virtual Connect

Blade FW

ESX 6.0 to 6.5

ESX Drivers?

Cheers,

PB.

I would always perform an update starting with the "lowest" component. So start with your hardware (Enclosure, iLO, Blade etc.) and then your ESXi software.

Consider giving Kudos if you think my response helped you in any way.

Hi,

Yes, it's the best thing. when the hardware is updated, proceed with vsphere.
