Mouse not appearing in VMware Horizon Mac Client?

Has anyone had an issue with not being able to use the VMware horizon client because the mouse is not shown on the screen? VMware tools is installed, and I am able to use the windows horizon client, but the mac is giving me issues. Using Mac OS 10.15.2 and VMware horizon client is 5.3.

I'm having the same issue on my MacBook version 10.13.6 (17G10021) with Horizon Mac Client 5.3

Seems like a bug. I'd suggest asking VMware for support.. There have been issues in the past with the View client and MacOS.

Hi,

I have this issue in one of the mac clients and in my case was the accessibility in mac was enabled for horizon client.

Take a look in mac configuration > Security and Privacy > accessibility. uncheck for Horizon client.

@lucasmveds I wanted to say thank you for your post. It was counter intuitive to how we manage our corporate Mac environment for use with VMware Horizon (5.3.x - 5.5.1 +) clients on our Macs running 10.13.6 -10.15.7. However, after reading your post, I was able to successfully resolve the issue of the mouse / trackpad becoming completely unresponsive and disappearing once the connection to a VDI environment using VMware Horizon client was established.

The issue for my client started on Feb 1st 2021, and though I am not sure how or when the "accessibility" option was toggled on, as I started working with the client after Tier 1 got involved, sure enough, once we flipped it off, everything started working.

Without your post, we would never have even considered that, and were headed down the "nuclear" OSRI path…which is always a painful last resort, and one I hate, as it means "I was bested" by software or hardware.

If your mouse cursor isn't showing up, a simple click-and-drag operation may bring it up. Simply hold as though you are selecting an item or bunch of text, then release. This should bring up your mouse cursor on the screen!

  1. Hit Command+Tab to switch back to the Finder or to another app, then switch back to the active app.
  2. Summon the Force Quit menu by hitting Command+Option+Escape, there is often no need to actually force quit anything as just summoning the menu is often enough to make the cursor return.
