High Contrast and Mouse Settings

Hello, I'm pretty new to DEM and getting the hang of it. I have a user who has a vision impairment and is asking for high contrast mode with a large cursor using the feature where the cursor changes colors depending on the box beneath it. Additionally, I need to preserve our stock wallpaper. This is a Windows 10 floating desktop pool. I've spent quite a few days working on this and don't think I'm any closer. Just when it seems like it is working, I realize it is not. Part of the problem is I don't have a great test environment with admin creds to cleanup the profiles I've left behind through my testing so I've left a bevy of high contrast and mouse size/color variations in my wake.

I have a custom template with the following in Personalization:

[IncludeRegistryTrees]

HKCU\Control Panel\Accessibility

HKCU\Control Panel\Appearance

HKCU\Control Panel\Colors

HKCU\Control Panel\Cursors

HKCU\Control Panel\Desktop

HKCU\Control Panel\Mouse

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Themes

HKCU\Software\Classes\Local Settings\MuiCache

I also have the following registry configs set through User Environment. As far as I can tell, these are being set properly but the cursor is not consistent across desktops int he pool as I would expect it to be after adding the Cursors registry tree. Although the wallpaper does seem to be sticking to our standard.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Themes]

"ThemeChangesMousePointers"=dword:00000000

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Themes]

"WallpaperSetFromTheme"=dword:00000000

Any help would be much appreciated!

Hi Bendezium,

Could you try capturing the Active Setup configuration as well? Create Config File >> Use a Windows Common Setting >> Active Setup:

If someone still looking for a solution to save the Cursor-Color, use the predefined mouse profile from DEM and add the following:

[IncludeFolderTrees]
<LocalAppData>\Microsoft\Windows\Cursors
