Enabling root SSH login on an ESX from Power Cli

Hi All,

Can we enable to root SSH login on ESX from power cli ?

VMware Knowledge Base

nano /etc/ssh/sshd_config

Actually root access denied, hence wanted to enable from power cli.

I can login to ESX host from VI client but no ssh.

ESX4.0

Thanks

vmk

The procedure is for ESX 4.1 and earlier.
Are you really using ESXi nodes with such an old version?

Yes, client is not ready to invest since they have a plan to migrate vm to cloud which is underway.

Then we are in a bit of a catch 22.
You could change the file remotely, but that requires SSH.

Not sure if there are any other methods to enable root SSH access I'm afraid.
