You could check your iLO/iDRAC? That should give you a better indication of which disk is having an issue

There are 2 ways:

1. Open putty and run any of below commands and see what you need:

esxcfg-scsidevs -l

esxcfg-scsidevs -l | egrep -i 'display name'

2. Open web client connection directly to ESXi host. Select "Storage" under Navigator panel. ESXi will then open "Datastores" panel on right. Open Devices tab. The serial number should be located at the end, after the device's model number.

The physical disks arent being presented to the OS, a RAID Disk is.... Do you have no OOB management at all?

Thats what you would expect because a single logical disk is being presented to ESXi from your RAID Controller. What make is your server? With HPE you get a tool called hpacucli for managing smart array controllers from the shell

Hi T180985,

Thank you for the answer. I am having Dell PowerEdge R720, R620 etc. Will the hpacucli utility work on Dell.

Would appreciate any pointers that you can give about hapcucli.

Thank you

Hi ,

Thank you for your response. Do you also have an idea about a command to retrieve details of a NIC card on esxi?

I tried

esxcli network nic list

but it does not show some details like speed , version and firmware. Also it is difficult to understand the model and vendor

Thank you

Dee
