Unable to determine default VM location for the selected host.

After installation of ESXI on my HP microserver gen8 and VMware Workstation 15, when I connect to the ESXI server and create a new virtual machine.  Workstation 15 software pops up the following message "Unable to determine default VM location for the selected host.  This is most likely due to insufficient permissions."  Can anyone here shed some lights on this problem?

Are you just using the Root user to connect to the host?
