Did it fail with an error message when you tried to start the vitd service? if you ssh to the host and run /etc/init.d/vitd status i assume they both show as "is not running"?

Hello rcmendoza

Welcome to Communities.

I would advise you start with reviewing the vitd.log (/var/log/vitd.log) and vmkernel.log for the specific reason(s) of failure when restarting.

Do ensure that all processes are actually stopping:

#  ps | grep vitd

#  /etc/init.d/vitd stop

#  ps | grep vitd       (Should return no output - if it does then the threads are not being killed)

#  /etc/init.d/vitd start

Then look at the logs for the timestamp of restart.

Are you sure you don't have other issues in the cluster here that could affect vSAN iSCSI like Inaccessible home objects?

Hi guys, thank you for your response..i found the problem. I set a wrong VMK adapter for iscsi traffic..i corrected it then run the io_restart and the VITD started. Thank you guys.
