I was finally able to solve the black screen problem by going to https://posts.boy.sh/
but I get an error when I try to install VMware tools , any insight would be appriciated
Fusion 10.1.6 isn't supported on Catalina, so upgrading to 11.5.1 is the recommended fix for any issues.
So every update made by apple costs me 80 bucks, that stinks
