is it possible to print from Workstation 15.5.1 Player guests

My first question:  Is it possible to print from VMWare Player?

I downloaded Workstation Player 15.5.1 and am using it on Windows 10 (fully updated as of today).  VMTools installed (using version included with Player 15.5.1).

After I created the Ubuntu 19.10 guest everything worked (resolution changing, clipboard, sharing folders, mouse) except I kept getting notifications that printing was globally disabled. Settings said the Printer was present but "Must be enabled in Preferences".    I assume this instruction is for the Workstation product and not Player?  There is no preferences anywhere I could find.   I found the VMWare Workstation settings.ini and changed printers.enabled = "FALSE" to "TRUE".  Now under settings the Printer device status is checked "Connected" and "Connect at power on".   The printer icon on the Player toolbar has the green light on it.  No more notifications about printing being disabled.

Under the menu Manage I now have the option to Install Virtual Printer.   I installed the package.  It succeed and I got a subsequent message that each printing device on Windows was installed (e.g. Fax, PDF printer, physical printers).  They are all listed in Ubuntu, Devices, Printers with the same names as windows and model described as "Local Raw Printer".

The printer works printing from the  host. However selecting any of the printers under Ubuntu Printers doesn't.  When I print from any application or the "Test Page" I get a message in the Ubuntu guest that the job is printing and then subsequently a printing completed message.  Nothing is printed.   I invoked the Windows printer queue and watched it while I pushed print in Ubuntu.  For the briefest of moments a job does flash in the queue list but nothing is printed.  Checked afterward, Windows host prints to the device fine.

Any help or suggestions?   I've not found anything online and have followed all the VMWare help pages I could find.

Starting with version 15 of Workstation Pro, the version of VMware Tools bundled with VMware Workstation Pro no longer delivers VMware Virtual Printer functionality. You must install the VMware Virtual Printer application separately in the guest operating system to make the printers on the host visible in the virtual machine.

Before you install VMware Virtual Printer on a virtual machine, you must add a virtual printer device to the virtual machine

Thanks for your reply.  Much appreciated.  I had already read through that and followed all the linked articles specifically.   It doesn't answer my question "Is it possible to print from Workstation Player guests?"

The link you sent specifically starts "Starting with version 15 of Workstation Pro"

Regardless, I have installed the VMWare Virtual Printer as described here: Install VMware Virtual Printer

As I mentioned, the Virtual Printer application is installed on the guest. I can confirm it is there, Player says printer is present and connected.
