Access vioalation 0xc0000005

Hi,

after inline upgrade of WIN7 to Win10 1909 none of my virtual machines are starting anymore. I get the error Access violation unrecoverable error (vcpu-0)

I already did deinstall VMware Workstation 15.5.1 cleaned all directories on the device and re-installed. Nothing helped. Also all hints I found on google have been without success.

Does anyone in here as an idea, where to look further? I have attached the supportfile.

Hi Ullrich, and welcome to the VMware Communities!

Your virtual machine is crashing while attempting to use its sound device.  The problem is almost certainly caused by the "AVM TSP Sound Driver" (AvmSnd.dll) which is installed on your host.  That driver might possibly be associated with a "Fritz!" product, although I am not 100% sure about that.

Can you check for an update for that software, or try uninstalling it?

Otherwise, you might be able to work around the problem by configuring your virtual machine's sound card so that it is not "connected" and not set to connect at power on, or you can simply remove the virtual sound card entirely, but either of these options will leave your virtual machine unable to produce any sound.

I hope this enables you to resolve the problem... If not, please let us know.

Hi Darius,

you are absolutely right. It's the sound. Deactivating "connected at power on" does the trick. I will check my installed software and the sound drivers.
