ESXi 6.0.0 vSphere License key Error

I am trying to assign a new license key (to enable additional features) using the vSphere thick client, but it's not being accepted.

The pop-up error dialog reads:

An internal error occurred in the vSphere Client.
Details: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

I re-downloaded the client, but that did not make any difference.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Are you able to restart the hosts which exhibit the error? I would try that first.

How is your host currently licensed? And what type of license are you attempting to apply? Please do not post the license in a response.

The host is currently running on a free license, so I am unable to perform backups.
I purchased  vSphere 6 Essentials kits to upgrade all of my hosts, and most of them have accepted the upgraded keys.

But I have a couple of boxes that throw errors.
Thanks.

I'll have to schedule an interruption, but I should be able to manage that over the next few days.
I'll report back once I've given this a try.

Thank you for the suggestion!

You  can try to restart the Management Agents using the DCUI. Login into the DCUI and go to the Troubleshooting section. Restart the Management Agents. This does not interrupt the operation of the VMs.

Another responder suggested trying to restart the Management Agents, and that sounded like a less intrusive course of action. However, that seemed to interfere with connectivity, so I ended up having to reboot anyway. Once the host was back online I was able to successfully apply the new license.
Thanks for all the help!
