Lab Workstation Install

I have a HP z840 Workstation (dual E5-2690v3) and a VMWare Vsphere Essentials kit license. I'm looking for advice on which ESXi install package to use.
The latest from VMWare?
The latest HP custom image?
Or do I start with version 6 and up grade to 6.7 U3 since 6 was the last version VMWare lists in their support matrix?

Or am I over thinking this?

6.0 U3 was the last version that hardware supported, so I would start there. And I would get HPE's customized image of ESXi as well since it has agents and other bits specific to HPE hardware.

I thank you, I reply in good faith. Usually when I see that someone has already answered correctly I don't answer anymore. This time I answered the question that there was no answer and I was checking on the official website that my answer was correct. When I finished checking and pasting the screens to show that the source was official and I clicked "Replay" ... I saw the other answer. And if there are people who think that others waste time answering just to do ... I feel sorry for them.

Thanks!  I will start with the HP customized ESXi v6.0 U3.  Then to update it to 6.7 would I use the standard installer provided by VMWare?

It may not work with 6.7, but you can try. If you wanted to try, you could either use the HPE-customized ISO or a similar offline bundle.
