non-active vMotion microsoft licensing

Hi.

We have a question about Microsoft SQL licensing.

It is not easy to get a correct answer from our dealer, so I try in this forum.

We need MS SQL core licenses on our vmware virtual environment.

The dealer said we need to buy with SA to be able to move the vm to another host.

But we dont use DRS. Only HA in case of some hardware problems with a host.

Some years ago we got this quote from an license expert:

SQL is installed in a virtual environment based on VMWare, but we are using a non-active vMotion.

“vSphere HA” is activated for possible hardware faults, but “vSphere DSR” is not activated.

This does not require software assurance.

Is this correct?

That document looks a bit old as it's refering to ESX 3.5 and SQL server 2008....

It looks like the following link has more updated information:
