Resource Pools

Hey all,

What is the official stance on resource pools in VCF?  They don't seem to be configured to do anything in terms of true tuning of shares, so maybe they are just in case the consolidated model is desired?  If that's that case, they can just be deleted and/or not used right?  If there are no plans for contention in the management domain, they seem unnecessary.

TIA!

This is exactly the case, Daniel. These.

  • RPs are used in the consolidated design to ensure resource requirements are met for management, edge, and workload when in the single, initial domain and default cluster.
  • RPs are using the standard design to ensure resource requirements are met for the first (default) cluster for edge and workload in a workload domain. Those in the management domain are not required.

So this would also mean that deleting them will not cause issues within SDDC Manager and is supported as long as the standard SDDC design is being used, correct?

That's correct, Daniel.
