Hello All,
I'm having hard time with getting DVD Writer to work on our instant clones. I have barely couple of users that need it however it is critical for their job to be able to burn DVDs. THe problem I'm seeing is that whenever I plug in the DVD writer, Windows sees it as CD-ROM and of course they cannot burn to it. We are on Horizon 7.8, VMtools 11, vcenter6.7, AppVolumes 2.16 and Window 1809LTSC. If I take the DVD writer and plug it in to physical machine running the same OS it shows up properly.
Did anyone of you encountered a problem like that?
My organization has been fighting this same issue. Eventually i had to use the base image snapshot that was prior to the VMware optimization tool being run. Verified the burner was detected correctly. Short story one of the services was set to disable preventing the DVD burner being detected correctly.
Had to set the Shell Hardware Detection service to Automatic and start the service. This resolved the issue for us.
Hope this helps.
