When will this be fixed? I'm unable to use the software on my laptop and to continue production of files.
The screen turns black when Fusion launches and cannot open any files.
Casey
Be very careful that you have a good (not time machine) backup strategy. Fusion 10 is two versions old and wasn't even supported on Mojave.
this worked for me! thank you!
System preferences > security & privacy > screen recording > Vmware Fusion > make sure it is checked !
Katie,
Thank you. This worked for me.

This should fix it.
Thank you, sincerely for this post. You are most helpful...
I managed to trigger the permission modal for VMware Fusion 10 on Catalina using library injection.
After restarting VMWare Fusion 10 it seems to have done the trick.
I created a git repo with a script to trigger the modal.

October now! When do we get a fix for this?
This worked! Running Mac OS 10.15 October 2019!

excellent post for fixing blackscreen witout upgading too fusion 11. Thanks a lot!
Nope it lied to me... still getting black screen... false alarm no fix yet for 11.5 and Catalina.
Thank you
This worked finally, never rebooted just deleted everything vmware fusion, my local and remote ESX connections work !! been running for a few hours now without having to disconnect Catalina and fusion 11.5 fresh install. There was something hanging around causing issues.
Perfect, I can confirm thaat it worked in v 8.5.10 too..
I just upgraded to test the 11.5 Pro and I finally have Display of my VM- However - I don't want to have to upgrade (COST) if I don't have to. But Its working again!!! I still have no Privacy-Screen Recording OPTION available to check Off. Go Figure....
My company is on Hold until that say YOU HAVE TO UPGRADE to make it work..
<edited- incorrectly stated v11.0. instead of v11.5>
11.5 is the only version of Fusion supported on Catalina. It's a free upgrade from Fusion 11.
Versions earlier than that may work with these hacks, but it's absolutely not recommended - and if you do, make sure you have a good, reliable backup system (not time machine) in place.
It is not, however, a free upgrade from version 10. And version 10 is also the last version that will work on unsupported machines with AMD processors, not that that's any concern of the developers.
This helped
This works perfectly well and is the simplest way to address the issue.
Thanks a lot!
Brilliant, works like a charm!
There is no mac hardware that uses AMD CPUs, so I'm confused as to the comment.
Fusion 10 wasn't even supported on Mojave.
Thanks for pointing out the obvious. I'm still not upgrading.
If you are attempting to run this on an AMD CPU, that means that it's not apple hardware. Doing so is an EULA violation, and talking about doing so is a TOS violation for this forum.
Running out of date, unsupported versions of Fusion risks crashing and corrupting virtual machines. Of course, that's your choice, but if you're going to do so, make sure you have a very good backup system in place (i.e. not time machine).
