with my 10.12 host I have some issues:
- although I set in the settings the set hd won't appear
- screen resolution stays on 1024x768 no matter what i do ...

Known issues with OSX guests under 11.5. VMWare is aware and working on it.
For this known issue, you can install the VMtools for macOS in Fusion 11.1 as a workaround.

actually installing only the tools from 11.1 did the job.
Important is to deinstall the tools, restart and then install those here:
https://softwareupdate.vmware.com/cds/vmw-desktop/fusion/11.1.0/13668589/packages/
and restart the guest again.
