vSphere ESXi updates recommended or not

Is recommended to update ESXi on servers whitch don't have any issue ?

I have only one server (production server) HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 and vSphere ESXi Essentials Kit 6.

It was installed in march 2008 - Custom Image ISO HPE so this is ESXi 6.5 U1 (6.5.0 build 7388607).

Is any recommended and sugested to upgrade to latest version ? In my case for today is ESXi 6.7.0 U3 ??

Is this good idea to take risk and update ESXi ?? Maybe better way is do nothing because everythink work fine without any issue.

By performing ESXi updates, you are able to close potential vulnerabilities. If there is a bug, they will be corrected. Apart from this, you will not get extra performance if you update on a nice and smooth infrastructure.

However, it is in your interest to update. However, when performing the ESXi update process, always make firmware updates.

If you want to upgrade to a new version, I suggest you do the firmware update again. You can use the innovations that come with the new version.

Download and install a full package of firmware to update all required components of your ProLiant server. Its' always recommended after a successful update, do the host upgrade operation by any method you prefer (installation media, VUM, ESXCLI). I always choose the VUM, if you don't have vCenter server, esxcli is the better options

Yes always do like this procedure: update the server firmware and hardware drivers, check the current status and health of the system, then upgrade the ESXi host

My actual version is 6.5 U1 - VMware ESXi, 6.5.0 (7388607).

I should upgrade to latest patch:

ESXi650-201908001 (14320405)

or

use new ISO Custom Image HPE with latest version 6.7 U3 (ESXi-6.7.0-Update3-14320388) and upgrade from this ??

Both of them are possible. It depends on your needs to select which version of ESXi, 6.5 or 6.7. Just remember to attend the server compatibility and check them first before start the ESXi upgrade operation
